Couple of raiders have been posting screens of damaging braziers to 1%. Why are they doing it, and not just destroy them? Does it help them somehow by reducing damage done by braziers?

They are actually damaging the brazier 50% more than they need to. If they are more than half destroyed, they won't be able to fire until they are repaired.

But then there is that pesky issue of fueling them.

The way I see it... I would only refill braziers after my settlement was raided. Because I assume that raiders know what they are doing and they start a raid when they know it will succeed, so there would be no situation when fuel is spent and settlement still intact. Then, if I still have the will to continue playing, nuking couple of walls to refill braziers won't be that hard. At least not even remotely as hard as rebuilding all the infrastructure lost in raid.

Since you have to build the corner posts anyway, planning for gates isn't the end of the world.

For gates I would have to build 2 cornerposts and make larger walls. Anyway, I won't got into details here, it's just not feasible for every brazier :P

you would not have to build two initial cornerposts
