Okay... I f-ed up... i f-ed up reallllll bad.. I see a way i can fix it by my girlfriend is so **** when it comes to things like this ;-;. If i were to get 2 mysterious lilypads would i be able to place a fence on top of it? I thought as long as i had the two starter post this would be do-able but apparently a gate hinged into two post needs ground below it...

yes lilypads are pretty much pavement on water.

Edit: Also, those walls are pretty much useless if you don't have atleast a few torchposts or braziers around your base.

No, just start making them.
Torchposts are really cheap and you never know when you're going to get on someone's radar.

In all seriousness, having stone inside of plank is something you should fix, too.

To add to this... walls splash damage when they are knocked down. So anyone who knocks over your plank wall to get in, won't have to worry at all about that stone fence because the plank wall will splash and knock over part of the stone wall anyways. Always build weaker on the outside, stronger on the inside to avoid the splash damage. Good luck

And as a totally unrelated bit of advice, always cover up your minimap in case someone had your area mapped already and can check where you just built

Build 10 torchposts covering all your walls that'll help more than a plank fence with no defenses
