Keep dying over and over

I was mining on the first level with full happiness when I started losing health. I assumed it was a bat even tho I couldnt see anything so I left the mine died, respawn with little health then died almost immediatly.
This keeps happening ever time I respawn I dont have a chance to take 2 steps. Any clue what is going on?
