A few Questions

Postby Icyblue » Sun Nov 11, 2012 9:07 pm

Why aren't my skills going above level 9? I've leveled them to that point a few times already and they have not increased to 10+ at all.
If I were to buy a pack from the store (to be nice as this game is fun), which would be the most useful? I fancy more support roles than actual action so yea.
Provided of course I can get my skills to exceed 9, what would be the ideal item to help aid me in getting the Mineralogy Skills ASAP?

Thanks ahead of time ^^.

http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Inspirationals is a good place to start studying on how to study. The big table at the bottom of the page lets you see which (and by how much) proficiencies (e.g., Mines & Mountains) are affected by each inspirational you study. Next, you need to look at each skill (http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Skills) you want to raise and discover what proficiencies are required and their level; you will need to spend much of your time raising proficienies above their 5 (500) initial value -- when a proficiency bar is green, clicking on it spends the current inspiration on raising that proficiency.

(ps, I am a big confused about skills going above 9 since skills have no levels.)

Screenie?
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Seems to have gone to 1000 after a few tries. Sorry for not being able to supply a screenshot.

Sounds like it might be some kind of lag? Delaying your input. It's about all I can think of.

Couldn't have been. But whatever the case it's working now. Question remains whether or not I want to get the fishing/adventurers stuff though.

That really depends on what interests you in the game. You can spend all your time behind a village wall if you want to join with others who will do your hunting and gathering for you while you supply them with goods and food or you can brave the wilderness and the wilder-players yourself (the backpack may not be all that useful if you stay in the village and you will eventually be able to make one yourself if you work with leather).

If you decide to try fishing or gathering or hunting and later decide to ignore them, you really haven't lost anything other than a little time and a few inspirationals. You can also just ignore them until you are ready to either risk your main character in the wild or create a second character who you don't mind losing (if you want to try the PvP game, I think a dedicated character for that would be a good idea).
