KO - Skill loss and bees

Hi,

my char got just knocked out and according to the Wiki I'm losing two Skills, but it seems like I didn't lose any. Is the information still valid?

And I got another question about bee keeping. Can I just place bee skeps wherever I want and they'll start producing honey (if the drones manage to do their job) or do I need flowers nearby?

Pretty sure you need trees nearby skeps.

The skeps produce honey even without fruit trees, or at least they did that a year ago on Popham when I was tending to skeps. As for knocking out, you don't lose skills if you KO via getting a cave down to a new mine level. Alternatively, you did lose the skills but your UI is still showing the old stats, it doesn't quite update properly, so try relogging and checking again. Best bet is your system message tab to see what changed.

Thanks for the replies so far. I logged out already, so I can't see the system message anymore, but if I'm checking the skills I can still see no difference. If I'm losing a skill, am I able to learn it again or is it gone forever?

No no, you misunderstand, you lose 1 point of two random proficiencies. As in, you might lose a point of cloak & dagger and a point of hunting & hideworking. And yes you can always keep re-levelling those. You don't lose actual skills.

For bees you need nothing nearby. Just a queen bee and ~8 to 10 drones in the skep. It will normally take a few days for the progress bar to begin filling up.

The part about fruit trees is that if a fruit tree is within the area of effect for the skep the tree will over time raise purity towards that of the skep.

Dont the fruit trees also need bees or butterflies nearby to flower and produce fruit?

Fruit trees will flower, but not yield fruit without bees or butterflies nearby.

as for skeps
you need a min. of 5 drones and 1 queen for it to start "working". over time new drones and even queens will spawn in the skep.
one skep can only have 1 queen so make sure to remove any new queen or one, or both, will vanish!
honey is only produced once the population has gone up a bit which is seen as a number on the bottom of the skep window.
the more populos a skep is the sooner a fruit tree will grow actual fruits
not sure how it works with multiple skeps.
over time the fruits will take the purity of the skep which is the same as the hay you used to build it. so it may take several harvests till you reach max purity.

p.s. to harvest honey you need to destory the skep. you may evacuate the drones and queens to a new skep
