Is this a good location to settle in?

Hello.
Me and my friend have been wandering for a whole day, searching for a good place to settle. Here is what we've found and consider the best atm: http://clip2net.com/s/2uxSO
Is this place any good? There is a forest, all kinds of quarries (you can see the lime one, clay and stone are kinda close), lots of sand not that far (actually that's an ocean). The only thing that bothers me that forest might be too small.
This world is new, so we can always search for something better, if you think that it could be so.
Thank you!

That's not bad. Grass+forest+water is a good combo, and sand nearby is a very helpful resource. The forest is a touch small you're correct, but if you're 1-2 people it's manageable.

I would suggest settling along that river to the far left of the area you showed. That will let the forest and sand regenerate. Try to be 2-3 minimaps away from both the forest and the sand (minimap being the square you see on your minimap roughly, it's a crude gauge of distance.

And for safety's sake, I don't suggest advertising your location in the future :)

Ideally you want to find an edge between a big forest (basically endless) and a grassland with water nearbye, but this will attract a lot less attention. For hermits (less than 3 players is what I call em) I'd say it's good to go.

Thats np, I bet before world map will come, we'll have enough protection even if we choose to live there.

Currently there's no stopping someone determined to kill/grief you. All you can do is deter those not entirely determined xD

..... that's an awful spot, especially if that beach is on the east coast and not part of a lake. I will never settle again unless I have dark forest within easy walking distance, preferably with normal forest and grass near as well. A game trail is nice to have near as you can follow it to hunt/forage and have little chance of losing your way or a nice long river works the same and has the added benefit of boating. That being said, this is where my detractors come in and say "OMR PAIN IS TEH N))BZ HE DON KNOW!!"

I don't disagree pain. It's definitely not *the* ideal place. But being suboptimal it'll attract less attention. And not all servers have an east coast do they? I think one of them was supposedly a west cost?

I also forgot that Dark Forest is teh ***** atm.

Okay, we're still searching for a better place.
Is Lime as important as I think? I've read that it's extremely important for both farming and mining, isn't it?

I don't know if I was lucky, but I was finding a whole bunch of lime while foraging (badlands and pine forests, IIRC). It helps to have essential minerology.

To be fair any large operation worth having will not be able to survive on "foragable" lime. The large white spots on the map can be quarried providing a much greater supply.

I am a bit confused about what constitutes a lime area on the map. There are two areas I find that are white in the world: one is stark white with jagged look in the world and darker grey on the map and another which is creamy white with a swirly look in the world and light grey on the map. Is it the latter which is lime, and if so what is the former?
