Hey everyone,

Just would like to ask if anyone can provide me with some brief information on the current status of the game?
I played for a while up until around the time witchcraft was released to the game (so like, early 2014 or some s***).
I've also spent like all afternoon skimming forums and updates and can see much has changed.

1. Who are the current Bullies/Back-Stabbers/Dangerous people/groups to look out for now (#Darwoth, #Chief... and who's this Heff dude i see all over the joint)?
2. WTF is Propham?
3. Should i bother trying to find people and join a town or am I still more than likely going to be back-stabbed?
4. Is Latakai's client still updated, working and current?
5. Can i get a map of providence anywhere or do the people who hold that info keep to themselves?
6. Any info on general map territory and where to avoid staking my noob claim (North, South, West, Corners, Mountains etc) would be helpful.
7. Any other important or major game mechanics i should be aware of now before i start out again?

i'll just talk for the custom clients: both Ender's and mine are still up-to-date with the server and can be used to play the game. Neither is getting much client updates anymore, though.

the biggest major mechanic you missed is probably madness.

Madness, righto cheers i'll read up on that one. I think i skimmed over it but didn't pay a lot of attention since i've gone through like 50 pages.

Glad to see you are still playing though mate and as long as your client works well, i'm happy

many cities are quite friendly, if you do not quarrelsome do not get back-stabbed

preferably around lakes do not connect rivers, less chance that someone will find you

-> like answered there are some different factions out there... Darwoth, KKK, Anarchy, Taco Guys still up... and some hiding heros
-> If they are called backstabbers has you decide by yourself. At least i think, that people within the inner circle of every faction are quiete loyal to each other.
-> Be careful always with JC&Marp, they like to troll much

-> Popham = temporary Expedition server = used to perform hard PVP and collecting new game content to bring it to the Permament Server Providence (like Domesticated Animals)

-> It is always good, not to play alone. But check your new townmates, before you go in.

4. Is Latakai's client still updated, working and current?
-> Lat's is a very nice client, i think many of us use it.

5. Can i get a map of providence anywhere or do the people who hold that info keep to themselves?
-> There are no public map and i guess most people don't want to share their own. Because you would give too much informations about places. So, just try to go in trust with other player and maybe you get a chance to have access to their maps.

-> Don't settle too close to Providence, this Area is hunted often by People.
-> Best choice is to port to one of the outerplaces (Ufo, Stonehenge, Sundial) and walk from there. If you choose Stonehenge, you have first to walk back to southeast to go out of light Darkness, Sundial to North (North/East/West) to stay in Lightness...
-> Orientate on Spawns in Stumps... if there are many, then the area is living... if there are nothing in, the area is not frequented

You can make a New World Map in game which will give you a rough look at the actual server map, and a big X for where you were when you crafted it. It can be used by anyone who hasn't used their teleport to port to the map's location, so don't lose it. This replaces the old Homestead Secret method of travel so you can safely share your HS with people now, they can only kin you with it.

And definitely check those links and read the first post of each thread. All updates are edited into the OP, so you don't have to read the whole thread.

Really!? Well that's a big change that is damn helpful to know, thank you haha. Glad that old system was fixed, never really liked it.

No idea. It's all a matter of opinion really. I'm not really sure what to think of the Kristians. I usually try to steer clear of faction related issues.

Completely up to you. There was a small nub scare awhile back when someone was disguising themselves as a nub, joining villages, and then robbing them blind. Personally, I don't recruit.

It works fine.

EDIT: Looks like I was mistaken, the map I was referring to appears to be gone now.

Don't stake your permanant claim in any place the native guide or the two guys near the wagons take you. Use them as a sort of starting point. Go north or south. North is relatively empty, but it still has it's share of miscreants. If you go too far south and west, you'll end up in the darkness. Also there appears to be a kind of "shotgun" effect on where players tend the congregate from providence. A lot of player movement due west of town.

A tip
Once you can use one, get a gun. Specifically, a rifle. I'm not sure if fire arm damage is based off yellow bile, but as it stands now I am snowplowing the brains of deer, cougars, and lesser darkness creatures with musket balls. Also, getting shot with a rifle or pistol inflicts a nasty speed debuff on players. That debuff is greater with the rifle. If you use it on a player, just use it to slow them down. Gun damage scales with how much blood the target has, unless it's an animal. Animals take a bunch of damage from rifle fire.
