When I smelt high % ore I end up getting random purity iron bars for some reason. For example in the image below I get a whole range of weird % iron bars, shouldn't it all be the same as ore %?

The previous ore has an effect, even ore from earlier smeltings.

its good to have 2 dedicated smelters 1 for highest purity and other for the crap

If you're going to make purity metals, I would suggest having a smelter for every 3-5% purity.



If you have a ****** memory like I do, you can make wooden signs displaying the purity ranges.

That's dedication to purity segregation there. It is a good idea to build a new smelter and only ever use your best purity ores in it. If your ores go up in purity, like you went down a new level, build a new smelter.
