How do i get it to run!?!? UPDATED WITH VIDEO! *SOLVED*

I got a beta key today registers and when i click the launch the client button in my account on the salem site. it download a salem.jnlp file...what is this and how do i run it? I got java(i have minecraft) but the file is appearing as a black page and dosnt know hoe to open....

it's probably downloading the game for the first time...

if nothing works try reinstalling the latest java:

its not downloading anything it just isnt anything...i have updated java...still just a blank page with the words salem.jnlp under it....

When windows asks you how should it open the file, tell it to use java. You may have to point windows to javac.exe
It's a problem with your system / java installation. Normally after installing Java, it tells windows that .jnlp files are open with Java. Which Java version you have?

Also, when you make videos turn background sounds off. It was hard to hear you sometimes.

Same issue, redownloaded Java per post above and nada.

Tell windows to use javac.exe to run .jnlp files

When windows tells you it can't open this file you select the option on the bottom - "select a program from list ..."
If java is not shown on the list you press "browse" button and then point to javac.exe in your java installation dir.
Usually it's located in C:\program files\Java\jre7\bin

i tryed to open it with java and nothing happens

I was under the impression you need to use Java Web Start (javaws.exe in your java directory) to run .jnlp files.

Try clicking the salem.jnlp Icon and dragging it over javaws.exe to open it with that program.
