They can be lifted and moved. You have a chance to find some Grubs or Beetles, when you lift it.

How many need wait for next "try" ?

best way to obtain grubs is by digging the same hole again and again

Try putting a bunch of boulders in a row then just move them daily. Haven't tried personally, but just a thought.
