Quick question,
I logged off for about an hour and came back to one of my cotton fields changed to a 600% upkeep from 50%... How the crap did that happen, and how do I stop it from happening again? That field is now a loss. Thanks for the replies.

That was a crow on your field.
Now you can either destroy the field with salt if it was not a quality field, or use a lot of humus then a lot of seeds in a leather bag to replant it.
If you replant it it'll be back to 100% upkeep.
To avoid those inconveniences, you can use

If you use the worse scarecrow only in the borders of a huge farmed area it will NOT work. I learned this through the hard way =(.
If you plant in a minimap that no one pass around it seems it will work

I used a lot of humus, and can not put any more on. But I cant plant on the field anyway? What do I do? Anyway to lower the Upkeep so I can plant again? I hope I dont have to destroy the field. Loosing all purity and Tiers.

You'll need 300 seeds to replant. So you have to use a seed bag to amass that amount in one plant.

If you use cabbage seeds, it's less than 100 to replant. As mentioned above, after the first replant it will drop to 100%
