Yes they are ; and in a few days (or maybe already ?) those will be "Dead Turkey".

Edit after Nephilim post : You're right not sure what OP wanted to know : if you already have a red egg , then it will hatched in a stump just like in a chest (be careful , check it often) . But if you 're planning to search for new red egg inside stumps , it will be too late soon (or already)

Probably not what OP had in mind. Yes they can hatch in stumps, but also in your crates/boxes. Just gather any eggs you find and they will hatch in 30ish h. Dont leave them in stumps.

Actually, you answered my question perfectly. I came across a turkey in a stump and was wondering if the red egg had indeed hatched in the stump or if some mistaken soul had either A. discarded it, or B. it was hot property.

Thank you to everyone who responded and attempted to answer my question. Sorry it wasn't clearer.
