Salem

Hello!
I've been playing Salem couple/three weeks now and up until this morning when I logged in, have enjoyed game immensely! However, when I logged on/in this morning I find that not only has my settlement been plundered but my personal purses on my main character and my alts have gone missing as well. (Characters were asleep in same area, nothing else in inventory taken - just the purses and a couple of objects in a couple of boxes). It's my understanding that one's personal purse cannot be pilfered even when knocked out. yes? My question is, is this a normal game incident, and not a hack, and last but not least, what do I do next? I have 8/10 tokens of "Evidence of Larcey" and still have the scent tokens up. This is sorta discouraging about the purses anyways. I understand that unless protected, the settlement can be plundered by anyone, anytime but that's not the issue. The purses are the issue I guess. Thank in advance for any info/advice here!

Your understanding was wrong, there is no free save storage or whatsoever in Salem. You could had paid 35% interest rate to the bank and stored your silver there.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Wasn't sure what the storage rules were/are yet, as I said, I am nooblet still, and the wiki is sorta vague leaving a lot to interpretation. It wasn't that much in silver, only about 300/400 per Character, so didn't think it was a big deal, its just the idea of it all. LOL 35% eh? well I suppose that's better then nothing! So you are saying that when you sell something in town, just to drop the proceeds off at the bank, and then retrieve it if/when you want to buy something else? (Edit - Oh, and how does one go about tracking the perpetrator down? Can you point me to some directions/video/information, written or otherwise? Thanks again!)

Well its a secure way, pricy but riskless especially when you don't have a secure base it'd be calculated losses rather than losing everything at once. So yeah, Homesteads (leanto's and pclaims) can be accesed and stolen from.

The bank charges only 15%.

Oh, and one more question LOL..How exactly does one steal from Characters that are asleep? Do you just click on their snoring bodies with criminal acts turned on? Is there a way to prevent this sort of thing? And how exactly do you turn in/report the "Evidence of larceny" things? Sorry for all the nooblet questions. your answsers/advice is truly appreciated though, thank you!

No, they right click on a lean-to or a claimstone being used as a homestead and have the option to check the contents of your inventory. They can then steal items, including things you are wearing, I believe. I've never actually stolen anything, but I learned larceny.

Wow, so much information to gain here! LOL I do enjoy the learning curve here! (shakes head, chuckles) Only one comment I guess at this point - Goes around. comes around! (This slingshot just ain't gonna get it though! LOL)

Get 500 silver and see if you can put the person in the stockades. If you do you will see a number of people step up to whip the criminal and throw food at him.
