Windmill sounds - Need techy help

The sound of a windmill is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Is there a way to disable that sound? Can I go into a config file and turn it off or delete the sound file?

I'm just looking to see if the audio files are kept in the files on hard drive or not. Not even sure if deleting one of them would bug the game. Would like to disable the sound from turkey coops myself. They make the most god awefull noise when I first load them after logging in, and I have been meaning to see if I can stop it.
If not, kandarim may be able to point to some code to do it, I am not trawling through it on guthub.
*edit, I tried deleting a cached sfx in the .salem folder, but it didn't work and was replaced on loading the game.
Also, this thread is better placed in the bugs and technicalities section.

No, it's a request for help, not a bug. I suppose a request for new windmill and turkey sounds could go in Small Ideas in I&I. Bonus points if you have a sound in mind.
As far as trying to change a sound or remove it client-side, I can't help because I don't know. Sorry.

I would be relatively shocked if the sounds were not entirely client side, though it may not be as easy as simply deleting files in a directory.
+1 on turkey sounds on load after logging in after being away for a day being absolutely terrible though.

It makes me shudder and is like some evil noise from a horror film lol.
Also Meow, she is asking for technical help beyond the scope of general game play advice. I think the majority of people wont be able to answer this without knowledge of the game file system and build. So I assumed it would go in the "bugs and technical" sub forum, as it says underneath for technical problems. Nobody with regular knowledge has managed to answer the question yet and that doesn't usually take this long with the amount of helpful people on here. Suppose it doesn't matter either way, she will be helped one way or the other eventually.
Of course, this is just me assuming that the windmill noise she is hearing is similar to the turkey coop horror and not just a personal dislike of a normally functioning sfx.

Lat used his client to turn off the violin player. I imagine it is possible, just unsure how. Please move to technical if it should be there.

It looks like audio files are cached under
C:\Users\<username>\.salem\cache\res\sfx
maybe you can exchange it by copying another cached file here and rename it to the windmill cached file.
But be cautious, I haven't tried it.

As said in my first post I tried messing with these.

You deleted it, he is suggesting renaming it and adding a different sound file and naming it the same thing. This would avoid the game redownloading the file, because it wouldn't be "missing". I think this should work, thank you! <3

Yes, of course, good call. So we could replace it with a blank sound file. I did say though that when the game loads it replaces the file. I just hope it doesn't replace the file because it has a wrong file size.
By the way its a she I think not a he.
