Crime Dispute

Postby Fidgety » Tue Mar 15, 2016 1:43 am

Someone is arguing with me that aggravated assault isn't summonable when I have read it is. I went back to wiki to make sure and left more confused than before.

Crime and punishment wiki page ---
"The Evidence picked up into inventory can be stored for up to 90 days and used to get revenge. If you can find the homestead of a criminal and access it, you can use a piece of Evidence to summon their character online and kill it, which will leave scents. Alternatively, you can destroy their homestead if it is a Leanto and summon them anywhere. Summoning someone who doesn't have a homestead results in their instant death with no scents left. This works for any Evidence except Trespassing and Assault Evidence, which are not summonable." --- battery is sumonable.

Scents wiki page ---
"Assault: left when one player initiates combat with another player. Assault scents expire after 1 day.
Battery: left when one player knocks out another player. Battery is not summonable. Battery scents expire after 3 days." --- battery not summonable

Trial by Combat wiki page ---
"Murder may be summoned after four hours. Waste may be summoned after eight hours. Revenge may be summoned after ten hours. Larceny maybe summoned after twelve hours. Aggravated Assault after twenty four hours." --- battery is summonable

If you just hit someone, and knock them out that isn't a summonable scent.

Some of the wiki hasn't been updated since changes have been made. The 90 days statement is wrong. If a scent is in the ground then the evidence in your inventory will remain and can be used. The summonable battery scents have recently been changed as far as I remember, but I can't find where it was posted. I do know for sure that it is not summonable though.

I'm assuming after said person is knocked out, their inventory will be dropped on the floor when they teleport back to their homestead. Is picking anything up classed as stealing?

Thanks for replying both posters.

So, what your saying is battery and aggravated assault are two separate crimes? Battery = knocking someone out, which isn't summonable from the general consensus of this thread, and aggravated assault = the random chance you break someones bone in combat and that is summonable.
The wiki only lists assault and battery, for some reason I thought battery and aggravated assault were the same thing.

One other little question I have is, am I right in thinking that you can only summon someone that is not logged in? Someone who is walking around playing the game cant be instantly teleported to the stocks or trial by combat or summoned with evidence at their homestead?

Correct. Which is why there's a mad rush after a server has crashed (which logs everyone off) for criminals to log their combat alts back on and for victims to rush to try to stock/summon with their scents/evidence before they do.

You can, however, track someone who is logged on with active scents... Just can't summon them. I believe it will track to their actual character in that case rather than their homestead.

It's not random. When you choose "beat face" on a KO'd character you will do just that, which is then aggravated assault.
Jesus died for our sins. You should do the same.

So what happens to a character that has his face beaten? I read that you could chop a hand off but not beat face.
