Town Claim / Boundary Stones

Hi guys and gals,

Couple of questions regarding the thread title.

Are you allowed to infinately expand your towns boundaries with boundary stones or is there a limit? The wiki says 25x25 expansion per stone but does not mention a limit.

Also, the wiki says, the boundary stone must be built on a village claim and expands the towns claim by 25x25. This is confusing me a little. Does the wiki mean a pclaim when saying village claim or is this a relic from an old way of doing things as I have not come across any mention of village except from a thread on the forum where Lusewing said how happy she was with how her village was set up and run. Another possibility is the wiki means it must be placed on the towns claim, to which I ask, if the boundary stone has to be placed on town claim, am I right in thinking that it in fact will only expand the town by 25 tiles in 2 directions if placed in the towns corner or 1 direction if placed in the center of the towns border line. Or can the border stone be placed 25 tiles past the towns claim border to get the full 25x25 expansion as the wiki says it is capable of.

Sorry if this is not getting a good explanation across, I'm a little confused.

village = town
boundary stones expand 25x25 tiles from where they're centered, so if you build it on the border of your town claim, it will expand it 25 tiles to all 4 directions of which at least one is already covered by the bell anyway.

There is no limit to how much a town claim can expand. The only limiting factors are how much the upkeep will cost (each boundry stone adds a small addition to the daily drain)

Boundry stones must be placed on the existing village claim, so yes in your example, by putting the stone on the very corner it will expand by 25 tiles in two directions. However if you place your stones in a grid like fashion they you can remove every second stone. Think of it like leap frog.
For example:
Place one stone expanding the claim south by 25 tiles.
Place the second stone directly south of the first on the very edge of its claim, expanding by another 25 tiles.
The third stone is again placed on the very edge of the second claim directly south.
The first stone claims the same top tiles as the second stone. The thirst stone claims the same bottom tiles as the second stone. Thus at this point the second stone can be removed.

Removing the spare stones will remove the unneeded drain on the bell.

Also don't forget that if your village get large enough to appear on the top 10 or even to threaten to appear on the top 10 you might get some unwanted visitors if you follow my meaning.

The amount tiles can be in a range of x*4 because of the "leap frog" style Lusewing mentioned and the build range of a boundry stone is basically half of the 25 claim range. A single boundry stone adds 90 reputation. So u can figure it out from there after checking to see how much rep the #10 town has right now.

I do get your meaning, can you tell me, when you go to the npc in Providence that asks for a contribution towards the town charter list, do you have to pay that every time you want a peak at the list, or is it a one off payment?

Just use Printscreen... uncheck 'Make public' but do check 'include interface'

and be done with it... even if the 10th changes somewhat you still have a clear notion of what's what...
