Is there anyway to meet up with someone who is on your kin list outside of the tutorial? Me and my friends would like to meet up and build our "empire" together....

Sure just Kin each other, invite to a party and walk to the arrow.
Or one should build a Claim homestead then others can use their complimentary travel with Kin sicret

1-4 hours, yes.

How do you do the other method you were talking about?

A) Walk out of boston together for 1-2 hours and find a place to live together.

B) Party them and let them hike to your random teleported destination.

C) Get the settling skill and a claim (set as your homestead) big enough with open space for a leanto. They *cannot* use their free teleport from the wildy guide they get for getting survival skills. When they go, there's an option to enter a hearth secret and after hitting enter they will be ported to your claim and a claimed leanto will appear. This ability is cancelled if they get the skill rights of an englishman, or if they use the free teleport for a random location. Feel free to destroy said leanto and repeat for another friend if you're low on claim space early on (which you will be).

You need to make this http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Stake_Claim and set it as homestead. Then people can jump to you from City guide using yours home secret+ENTER.

Does what ou said mean that if I have homestead set on a lean-to then nobody can use my homestead secret to teleport to me? Meaning I can safely give it to other players for purpose of chatting without fear that someone will use to spawn army of alts in my place or locate me on map?

That is correct. Other players can only teleport to you if you have your claim set as your homestead.
