600% upkeep

Hi, I have just harvested my first crop of cabbages. I followed the wiki in preparing for a decent cotton crop on 3rd rotation. The stats on the wiki are outdated and i have been making my own table for what effect the fertilizers do. I used the same fertilizers on 9 tilled fields. all fields except 2 have ended with 95% upkeep. The other 2 have 600% upkeep and I cant figure out what I have done wrong. 4 x 6 humus to prep a field is not good for me and I need to avoid it in the future. Any help appreciated.

Not your question exactly but might help newbies looking for tiering help, or fertilizer use:

Thanks man, I did wonder if it could be that but I assumed the crows would affect plenty and not the upkeep bar. guess they must eat humus and soil in this game lol and don't bother with my delicious cabbages.

Does the 600% upkeep reset at any point or am i going to have to reduce it by 10% at a time with fertilizers?

It goes to 100% after you harvest IIRC

It's still at 600% after you harvest, but after you put in the humus and plant the seeds is when it drops down to 100%. Note though that this means you need 12x the amount of seeds/humus to plant, which means you need to make sure to use a seed bag since you can't hold that many seeds at once otherwise.

crows
add masses of humus
use bag of seed
use masses of wood chips and bring upkeep back to 50%
