The image says pretty much everything. T__T

I'm going out crazy for this small, little, insignificant problem. Argh!

Ouch... Well the simplest way to illustrate the "steepness rule", I think is that for every corner of a square, if that corner has any lines connected to it that are 10 units or more below it, you can't raise it. So for that corner that you can't raise, one of the lines leads to a corner that exceeds 10 units below it. I wish there was a way to get the height of specific corners, but you can kind of figure it out by highlighting one square at once and figuring out how low the lowest point is by looking at the "min" of the leveling tool.

But yeah, doing what you're doing is awful and I feel for you :'(

Looking at the lowest point, it looks like all the base tiles are at the same eight, but i prolly have to check it more and find the one tile that is blowing up everything.

The tree will mess up with your digging in addition to your issue.

Ouch that looks tiring. The difference between max and minimum can't be higher than 5 or 10 iirc. honestly i just settle in a flat plain because flattening lands just sucks.

Yeah, 10. Gradient of 5 across a tile from min to max is max for a wall to be placed on it.
