Understanding objects movement in base and fence doors

Hello, I need some help in understanding how to rearrange objects in my base and fence doors.
- Rearrange objects. When I first build an object via the menu, then I can rotate it via the mouse wheel and it snaps to an invisible grid. So everything is nicely ordered (well maybe a bit to many spaces between objects...). But, when I rearrange objects, I pick them up on my back and can only drop them with RM and the alignment of the object is based on the direction I moved to the spot where I dropped it. There seems to be no grid any more. Is there a better way to "neatly" align objects than try and error in the way you "walk" to the drop spot?
- Fence Doors. I am building a wooden fence, but it seems I have to update it to a stone fence in the near future as this is the standard for all bases I see. When I build a stone fence around my wooden fence and keep the wooden fence then I will have a two doorway entrance. I wonder about the way the doors are "swinging" (inward/outward or north/south or east/west). When I build two fences can I run in the problem that I lock myself in, because the doors blockade each other? I envision a scenario, where the inner door wants to swing "outside" and the outer door wants to swing "inwards" and the blockade each other.
- Just to understand fence doors better, I build a test fence with the easiest material outside my base. I got two options "gate to west" and "gate to east" (not exactly in these words, but in this sense). But in both cases the door swings to the same direction, so there seems to be no difference.
- The wiki says "Which side when building your gate will deterime the what side the doors swing open. If you come from the north going south to build a gate the doors will open toward the south." (http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Split-rail_Fence). I do not understand this. As I said in the above paragraph, when I build "different" doors they all opened toward the same direction. What is meant by "[..] If you come from the north going south to build a gate the doors [..]". When I build a door I stand between the two cornerstones with two empty spaces between them. The only difference is what cornerstone I click to build the door. But when I experimented, that made no difference even if the pop up menu says "gate to west" and "gate to east". I am really confused.
