Greetings and Salutations Salemites
Was recently wanting to build a base do anyone have some tips how to place walls and braziers/torchposts.

Also i was wonder is there a way to increase the amount of damage a brazier shots, i think there is but i don't know how.
Same goes with torchpost can you increase their damage/crithits with purity leather?

Kind Regards nadde991

Brazier damage is increased with Unscathed wood of high purity wich increases Braziers Aether thus damage.

From what I've heard, you need to plant tree cuttings in gardening pots, have them successfully sprout trees, then plant them. Then chop them down. Cut them up for blocks. Turn these blocks into coal clamps. Gather the coal and the +purity unscathed wood, then add them to your braziers (it will accept them even if at 1000 ammo already). It will boost the purity. I was told the maximum jump in purity is 2% per unscathed wood.

I haven't embarked on this grind myself yet, as I'm still filling up my base with braziers, and all this information is just what I was told, so don't take it as absolute truth.

This part is incorrect. It is similar to worm purity in that the purity will increase by 10% of the difference. So a 50% pure unscathed wood added to a 0 aether brazier will bring it to 5%.

This is covered better in previous posts (just do a search) but nutshell is that more braziers in range of the same target make each brazier less effective, however it still raises the overall total. So basically if you have 3 braziers covering one spot and 10 covering another, it would be way more bang for your buck to add another brazier to the area only covered by 3 because it would increase the overall damage more than if you had added it to the area covered by 10... So try to have each brazier cover as much space as possible and even your coverage, which you would do anyways if you didn't want to provide an attacker with a weak point. Also torchposts and braziers don't affect each other so it's best to have both torchposts and braziers, even though braziers are stronger.

Also worth noting that you need at least 1 tile of buffer between torchposts/braziers and anything which isn't supposed to be a wall (houses, smelters, etc) I think you can put them right up against a wall, however, that would mean you wouldn't be able to repair that section of wall so I like to put my defenses a tile out from the wall.

Lastly, if raiders do manage to break through the wall, it will be easy for them to disable all the defenses if they aren't partitioned in some way from each other... So especially for large bases it's wise to build walls between various sections to make it more costly for them to infiltrate everything, which would hopefully incentivize them to look elsewhere. I tend to hermit with small, compact bases so that's not really an option but makes sense for larger ones esp if a multi-person town.

That's just my understanding which has mostly been gathered from the forums rather than personal experience, so happy to hear any corrections.
