A couple of mining questions, if you please.

I just dropped down to level four in my mine for the first time. Where the drop down occurred it created a section of black tiles that will take 23 piles of wood to soften them. I am wondering is it possible this area so close to the last cave down would create another cave down? If so would it be in exactly the same spot on level four? Also at what level can I expect greater iron purity? Or is it only distance from ladder and mine and mountains skill that determines this? Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

The corners of the mine hold the highest purity.

Each level you drop down is a bold new randomly generated map.

If you dropped into pure hardrock, i strongly suggest you leave it alone for a couple of weeks, then come back to it, this way you will have a very high chance of getting the next drop down very close to the ladder.

A new cave down will spawn a 'new' section of that mine. Basically two level 4's can never touch each other.

Without a good mining suit I get about the same purity as the level in the corners. I dont know how much of a differense a good mining suit makes so I cant say anything about that.
level 6 I get 50-60% purity in the corners, level 7 = 60-70% and level 8 = 70-80%. Hopefully that gives you an idea of what level you get greater purity

I had an almost perfect mining set, and 350~ mines and were getting the same levels of purity.

If im not mistaken a mining set only reduces the amount of phlegm drained when mining, as with my set + tea, i could basically mine endlessly and rarely need to rest and regen.

If its been changed after the patch I dont know, but-

Is there any validity to this? I hope not. Sounds incredibly silly but would be good to know I guess :\

Yeah this happened to me recently... Branches are cheap so what I did was just light it all up, then once it finishes either clear away the whole layer or dig in every X tile (6 maybe?) in hopes of finding either ore or non-hard rubble, you might have to burn away another layer or two to find some but once you do just follow that vein wherever it goes, attempting to get as far from the ladder as possible and eventually you should find a down tile.

Again, would be good to know if waiting has some strange reward, but otherwise, imo since it takes so long to burn through it's best to get on it quick.

I believe it is X amount of time spent in that level of the mine + the amount of tiles mined to determine the chance of when a drop down will happen.

Thanks, that's really unfortunate though... What a ridiculous mechanic :(

Number of tiles on that level, right?
