I am wondering if it is possible to completely eradicate a small quarry of stone. If I keep removing stone will I eventually hit dirt again or are they endless?

To my knowledge, it's impossible to get rid of stone. It's stone all the way down.

yup it's a type per XY coordinate, and the Z coordinate is kept separately. This is a 2.5D game.
