Hello ladies.
I am new to the game and recently got a novice toolbelt which im not sure how to use?
I have a stone saw, a wooden shovel and an axe... Are these considered as handtools? How do i attach them to the belt?

Right click the toolbelt in your character equipment sheet and put the tools in the new little box that opens up for the toolbelt.
While wearing a toolbelt, your tools will automatically switch according to the task at hand so you don't need to keep the belt box open.

what they said.
also you should get a journeyman's toolbelt asap, because its going to get really annoying rotating out tools if you don't.

Hey thanks a bunch, really, i just started the game so im not even sure how to get more tools for now.
I like learning by myself though, the hard way is always the most rewarding

BTW guys, i have a question that i wont be able to answer myself -
I understand that there is some "path" that an individual can take as other reviews suggest.
You can be dealing with gardens or wood works, you can be a thief etc.
The thing is the right now, i dont even know what all these things mean when it comes down to economy...
Should i just try it all in the noobie zone till i get to the hardcore server?

There is no hardcore server. Popham is a temporary server with a smaller map and the newest things that is being tested before being moved to the main server; Providence.
Both servers you may be permakilled on, etc.
(If you mean the tutorial, there is really only so many items on the ground you can study to learn skills and it serves no purpose to stay there once you've finished doing all the tasks)
Do not try being a thief as people can summon you to the stocks and you can't play that character till you are released from the stocks. You could also be summoned at your own home and killed aswell.
Since you appear to be playing alone at the moment, you need to focus on all the skills and learn them all. The best suggestion would be to learn the skill to tan hides into leather for torch posts(defenses that attack people who raid your claim) and learning the skills to make stone hedge walls at least. You should settle your base next to a mine(the mine should be built within the walls of your base) because iron is a big necessity. You will also need locksmithing skill to lock your gates because otherwise when people raid they don't have to break any walls/gates down.
I could go on and on but those are the basics you should focus on before producing other products.

Your first target should be to find a nice spot to settle (wich means flat ground with all basic resources around it as water, wood, clay, stone, ... and lime not too far) and to claim this place. Avoid the desert because the snakes and the trails because the spawn of bears and cougars. All what you'll install / build will decay if not on your claim.

I see now, Yea Max i was thinking of just having the experience of everything, then once i know what gets me where, i will probably open up a second char and just concentrate on the things that seem the most important to me... I havent seen any mine and don't know how that looks like, i did see something like an entrance to an underground cave (is that what we call a mine?).
Norelieth i have done this already, i didnt know things decay though, thanks for the important info...

This is a mine entrance :
http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Mine_Entranceyou may find one as you travel around but usually you need to build one on a metal node that you can locate once you get the Prospecting skill.
