It is totally random.
Some Trees regenerate very quick, some really late.
It depends on a random roll and how often the area is loaded.

If you plant fresh trees, then they will be grown up in a few days and all will have nuts and cuttings.
Then the regrow of nuts and cuts will be random.

Mostly it is better to rotate treeplanting, harvesting and choping.
So you can harvest every few days nuts and have all time enough Trees for Boards.

Does the purity of a brazier affect how much damage it deals?

Wiki : Braziers have purity which can be increased by Unscathed Wood even if the brazier is full. The max "step" by which you can increase purity is probably 2% like the purity of Gardening Pots.
It doesn't say if the damages are increased or if it is the range (or both).

I see. I was thinking it was going too slow to be worth waiting for them to grow back and that i should just plant more. ty for the good advice.
