Is there a "sweet spot" or do you just not let it go so long you get stunned?

I was told 6 head bobs. So start count from when the avatars head is up then count on the sixth time the head pops up hop off the hookah. Anything more than that I believe you are unable to continue unless it scales with your character. I will try more than 6 tonight if I remember and do not need it to remove a madness level.

I do 7. Stopping before or right at the end of the 7th. The only time I recall 7 stunning was with a character who was less than 24 hours old and had low stats. Like jakholin, I am also too lazy to test over and over what determines the max. I settled with 7 after 5-10 visits.

have audio on, wait for the audio clip to repeat. when it stops and then begins another loop, you're ready to quit.

i've found it tends to switch a bit for developed vs non-developed characters. I tend to settle with 15 seconds; I haven't done any extensive testing, though.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
