A question I've been meaning to ask but keep forgetting...

Can I splash damage buildings on my own claim? For example I build a corner, two wall segments, corner and then destroy the two wall segments to place a gate. Should I afterwards check surrounding walls for damages that need repaired or is it impossible for me to splash my own claim?

you do splash your own claim yes

However, walls don't splash if they're not at least a week old. So, for that particular example, as long as you do all that right away and don't leave the wall sections in as placeholders for future gates you'll be fine.
