Question about Lumberlords

Postby shiri01 » Thu Nov 12, 2015 9:04 am

Hello!

I've searched the forums and wiki, but couldn't find any info on the subject, if I missed something I apologize. As the title says, there's something I'd like to know about lumberlords - so they spawn when you attempt to cut down a tree in darkness. Does it make any difference if:
1) a tree was one you yourself planted from a pot(I'm guessing not)
2) said tree is growing on your claim (animals/monster don't usually spawn on your claim so this one has me stumped)

Because I'm thinking of moving into darkness. I know the most reasonable answer would be "if you can't kill darkness monster then don't go there ya noob" but hey, I'd still like to know. ;)

Well if you are a witch or inside a church influence they don't spawn. But if not then i think they will spawn no matter if inside a claim or not :P
Animals do spawn inside your claim but not in paved ground.

Also they are very tough and give no real loot :(

Lumberlords are on the higher end of humors for darkness creatures. You are going to want to have a means of obtaining wood other than fighting them every tree. I don't think how the tree was planted, or on claimed land has any bearing (have seen them spawn on both).

Ah, witch. I remember now I've heard something about witches and lumberlords. Maybe it's time I finally start dabbling in the dark arts? :)

Huh, that I didn't know. Never happened to me before, then again my claim wasn't that big to begin with.

Thanks for the answers, everyone! Guess I'll have to think a bit more about this before I make any journey towards darkness.

Eh, if you want to try, use landmarks, it costs 150 silver to go west then west again but you will need a canoe to move from that island.

Oh, thank! I, uh, I didn't know about that landmarks thing...

I didn't pay much attention to some of the game updates (unless it was something big like insanity) and also didn't visit forums that much so yeah, here I am learning about things I didn't know exist in this game, hehe.

tiny amendment: they will never spawn on a personal claim, but they will spawn on village claims. Animals will also never spawn on paved ground regardless of whether it is claimed or not.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Hi there.

I think it is very difficult to do any kind of Woodworking in darkness: Lumberlords do spawn on personal claims aswell.

I wonder how annoying many Lumberlords one has to kill before beeing able to set up a single Timber Pile. The worst part is, that you don't even get the tree after killing the Lumberlord but some crappy stuff. I think at least selfplanted trees on a personal Claim or inside some special fence should be save.

Even if you have 400+ biles, you dont want to fight all day to get a couple of trees. And you cant be forced to witchcrafting or to have an ALT just for some basic Woodworking.

How is this supposed to work?

Best, Chandi.
