Time to destroy every fence

Postby Victor » Sun Nov 08, 2015 12:01 pm

Hello, can someone tell me the aprox time for a pilglrim to destroy every type of wall? I know a stone wall takes about an hour to break, with 100 phlegm. What about Plank, Brick or Split rail?

I asked this question in game to a veteran player, and he told me that two high-end bashers can destroy a brick cornerpost in 4 hours. Whether that's accurate or not, I don't know.

This actually might get close.

The way more important question here is not the type of wall, but the number of brazies and torchposts, that actually makes the difference.

A super high end char could beat through a brick wall in about 15 minutes iirc. (Less humors means more time needed ofc.)
A Plank fence lasts about 5 minutes, you'd still need a quite high char for that though.

With tons of braziers and TPs though, even a high lvl char can only beat like 30-60 seconds at it (again, depending on the defense), and then needs to regenerate through tea, which can take a while, considering a 500 humors character, tea regenerate liks 1 point every 3 seconds, so thats 25 minutes.
If you have two characters / players of equal humors alternatingly beating at a wall, they take ~half of the time one would have needed, at the expense of risking 2 chars instead of one.

All that said assuming 2 really high chars and a really big defense with lots of braziers, 4-8 hours is realistic, again depending on the defense, if you only have like single or double basic braziers coverage though it would go much, much faster.

[edit:] On the other hand, if you really like to exaggerate on the defense part and spam like 3+ rows braziers and then some TPs, it would still be technically possible to beat through it, but could take days/weeks to do so, assuming there is no one defending.

What do you mean with single, double coverage?

Single brazier coverage = someone standing in front of your walls, trying to beat at it, is always at least fired at by 1 brazier.

I just have a little newbie hermit bunker town right now, but when I make my real hermit town someday, I'm going to go to great lengths to "honeycomb" the interior so that invaders are constantly having to break more walls. I've come across a few huge base ruins where they clearly had a very well fortified perimeter, and then vast defenseless open spaces within.

It's easy to talk when you have not reached anywhere near that level yet, honestly there is only around 5-8 people in the entire game that could confirm since they raised a character to around 1,000 phlegm, even then, one would not risk such character to destroy a noob base brick wall.

It doesn't take such short time, it also depends on how much you invest in that character, for soak values on walls just look at the wiki, that's the point where you start dealing damage, 350 phlegm for brick and it takes hours, at 700 plhegm it takes half the time IIRC. Values are not exact but it gives you an idea.

Also torchposts can be drained easly, braziers can be "destroyed" with 5 liters of water.

This is the best defense currently, once someone gets inside your walls as i said, unprotected braziers will be really easy to destroy, don't just focus on outer walls, defend the interior too.

AFAIK, there's still an upper limit on how much damage you can do in a swing. Like the difference in damage done to a plank fence between a 400 Phlegm character and a 1000 Phlegm character will be 0. If two strong characters take 4 hours to bash down a brick corner post, they will always take that long, no matter how high their humors.
