If a item is stolen does the evidence also lead you to where the item is?

When a larceny scent is retrieved you will have options of tracing the claim, the perpetrator, or the item.

Yes, but only if item exists in the world when you tracking larcery scent, bound to it.
This is not valid for substances, like silver coins. So when someone stole silver from your purse, you can't track it.

True a stolen purse will only track you to your purse not the silver that was inside. And if the item is a material for crafting and is consumed it will not transfer the larceny to the item created (Or at least from my understanding).
