I feel like I'm lagging behind where I should be...

Postby sirgringo » Mon Sep 28, 2015 9:40 pm

I'm just a solo player. Been playing for a few months now. I've been learning the various parts of the game. Finally getting to where I can farm tier 3 crops and cooking some slightly better food. Since I don't really do anything with my main aside from, farming, cooking, and hunting small game, I feel that my biles are low for someone who has played as long as I have. My biles are all in the low to mid 40 range.

I did create an alt specifically with crime in mind for him so he is now in the low 30's.

What should I be doing to bring both of these guys biles up? I'm guessing cook/bake the appropriate food and then that groups restore food?

Not complaining, just making an observation and seeing how you guys did it? I'm no power game by any stretch of the imagination. Slow and steady and all that. :D

at your level you could probably go for some simple things like slugs and bugs frog chowder with some nutcracker suites to regen some of the slugs and bugs coupled with turkey. You can also brute force things and use a ton of deviled beaver and braised beaver brain which are simple enough to make. If you wanted to also brute force through slugs and bugs you can do that by hunting snakes and using the charred meat as a regen food for that group. Making a ton of pest filled morals or frog chowder and having a ton of charred snake meat as constant regen.

If you have tier 3 fields you can also make a lot of turkey sandwiches and brute force gluttony with bagels.

Oh and yes you should be probably at 100 or more biles. Starting from scratch as a hermit even months in you should be up there a little higher. I can only imagine that you have been ignoring gluttony completely lol. And I can understand why before I had some good sessions to follow I kinda hated it as well. Now that I really understand it and know the entire process it is much easier. Also I would suggest investing in a gluttony set even if you can only get 100 points.

Hello,
Here I will paste what I said about gluttony in another thread "cant kill beaver".

For low biles I use to eat only 3 foods that gave me 3 gluttony points and thanks to the timer reduction, I would have like a 6 min timer. Before next gluttony session.

As said before :
Froghetti
Garlic mushroom
Garlic rabbit
Autumn delight.

Those 4 food give easily around 40 biles for gluttony, give a 15min timer, with 90% chance to reduce food efficiency (that s why you should stop after 3)
Try to eat only 3 and look at your timer, it should be around 6 min.
Stop your gluttony and you can start again soon.

Basically 3 humors every 6 min is not so bad. ;)

Ps: Dont forget to boil the mushrooms.

After a while one dish will not give you one point anymore, so I was eating 2 dishes to gain 1 point, stop the gluttony and wait for the 30min timer before gaining another point.
I think i did that until humours 90. But maybe you ll get tired of that before. :D

Then you should consider the longer gluttony sessions.
For that you need to kill some beavers. Gather or plant Devilwort to prepare devil beaver. You can also buy bear and deer meat if you find it at good price (devilbeaver prepared with rabbit, beaver, deer and bear will improve your 4 different biles).
Or you can for example prepare shroom legume salad (requires green cabage and radish) with toadstool, blewit, witch hat and morels.

Those food will add 3hours on the full and fed up timer but have only 15% chance to decrease efficiency of food by 25%.
You can restore game meat with redbellpepper (like in nutcracker suite).
you can restore mushroom with recipe using "any garlic" with garlic braid. Like tamale. But this is maybe a bit more advanced.

When you say 90 humors...are you referring to the total of ALL 4 of your humors added together or 90 for each one?

I am to the point where I can cook/harvest all of that stuff. I have quite a few garden pots and morels/blewts/garlic, etc... and am harvesting and replanting them every couple of days.
Good post and thanks for the info. Time to grind I guess! :D

When people say this, they are always referring to all of the humors at 90, because most people raise them all together.

Go to Providence and buy my book (Introduction to Gluttony). It might be a bit outdated now (not so much I guess) but it will give you good bases.

I feel this "lagging behind" you are feeling is only an illusion. Providence is a permanent server (at least very likely) and if I were you I'd just relax and learn the game. Laugh at your mistakes, rejoice about your triumphs and meet the amazing and revolting personalities here at forums and in game.

just play at own pace if you rush it just becomes boring.
it take longer to get higher the farther you come so there no need to rush.
