How fast do rotten logs/stumps refill?

I noticed from roaming I found TONS of FULL logs.. is that because no one ever harvested them? Or once people harvest them do they begin to refill faster? I noticed they always seemed to be not terribly far from active villages. Meanwhile I settled in a relatively remote spot with only abandoned homesteads near, and all the rotten logs/stumps are empty.. ?

From my understanding stumps, logs, and myrtle oak bushes refill based on how many people are in a location. Once the container is full it stays that way. Right now in a populated area you may have to walk around a lot to find the rare singing old log. However they used to spawn frequently in stumps and logs. You can go to areas where there are not many people but there many people have passed through and find many singing old logs in the natural containers all over the place this is the indication that they were not harvested and have been sitting there before the inspiration change. Also it can be noticed that there are more frequent types of items that can be found in these natural containers. Stumps and logs have a frequency for rusted coins, arrowheads, Indian feathers, and beetles while myrtle oak bushes have a tendency to have cobwebs and caterpillars.
