Prospecting

Here's my problem. Recently I bought a 44% pure rod and have been trying ever since to find a site for a mine with no success. I've spent hours prospecting, and inspected a really large area finding nothing. Are there some additional requirements like for example high mines and mountains? When i was searching for my first mine a woo woo wand found a site in 5 minutes and i have passed at least 10 low p mines during my search.

It can take a long time, especially with such a good rod. What you may want to do, is stand still for a bit to let the rod stabilise. I'm told that helps.

You can expect that high purity nodes are much rarer. Plus high purity rods cover narrower range of possible alchemy compositions.
For example rod with 5% lead will only let you find nodes with lead component between 0% and 15% (15% range), while 20% lead rod will let you find nodes with lead component between 10% and 30% (20 percent range).

Also, someone said that purity nodes are regional when it comes to their alchemical composition. As in particular area you will find nodes of one element. So if you have high purity salt rod you might not find anything with it in an area with lead nodes. But that's just what I heared, never managed to confirm it.

Got that impression too.

I never got that impression from the experiments of my miner. He wandered very very wide to find his mines, never stayed in any general area (and yes he always checked the areas of course). High end mines are so rare, sample size could lead to incorrect "trends" being seen?

Just take it with salt unless jorbtar confirm it.
