Somewhat newbish questions Vol. I

As I'm still pretty new to the game I have a lot of questions, but I try to figure most of it out in-game.
A few of those I remember from today..

1 - Is darkness found in patches like a biome, or is it the entire map beyond a certain distance from Providence?
2 - Does having multiple skeps speed purity increase of fruit trees? (I would test it but I am a little short of the skill)
2b - Does it increase the chance of blooms fruiting?
3 - If you have a working mine and the entrance is destroyed, does building another entrance there restore access to the mine you had, or generate a new one? (seems logical it would do the former, but I have been told it is the later)
4 - Is there any 'security' benefit to having a town over each having their own personal claim?

I am just about as new as you, so I can't elaborate on most of those with confidence, but I know that it has been confirmed (by TotallyMeow at least. I haven't seen it mentioned by Devs) that the darkness is a certain distance away from Providence by radius. Meaning that the light is a circle around Providence. You can think of it as if it is real life and Providence has electricity with a large forest surrounding the city. Only the trees don't block out the light and blah blah.

In another thread, a player or two mentioned that the darkness is basically only west of Providence. IIRC it is south as well but only at the very edge of the map. So...It is technically in every direction you go away from Providence, but the map hasn't been built out far enough for you to reach any reliable amount of it except west. Once again, I have never been there, so I am just repeating what I have heard.

What? I'm not a dev now?

1. The Light of Civilization extends in a circle from the main town Chruch in both Popham and Providence. The further you go from town, the closer you get to darkness. The first sign you'll usually see that you've entered darkness is rats, before even the humor drain.

2. No, you just need to cover the trees so they'll be pollinated.

2b. No.

3. The entrance cannot be destroyed and doesn't decay.

4. Yes, if someone wants to raid you, they can't destroy anything on a town claim without using a Trial by Fire, which takes 24 hours to activate.

1. Darkness is not a biome. It's a lessening of the light until you can notice that considerably darker and you can see the drain in your biles. You can press 'cntrl D' to see the exact darkness levels. You'll start by seeing rats, then some of the greater darkness creatures the deeper you go.

2. Does fruit tree purity come from the bees? I thought it came from the pots?

3. Mine entrances can not be destroyed.... ever.

4. Yes, towns take a Waste Claim which take 24 hrs to work and can be destroyed. Personal Claims can be attacked immediately. They both take the same Waste crimes but a town gets a bit of a warning. Personal claims can also be Town claimed over. It's much, much better to get a town up when you can for safety, but it is an investment and it is more permanent than a Pclaim.

Lol

That said, I seem to recall JC stating that multiple skeps did help fruit chances (ie. doesn't affect flowering chance but affects the chance that flowers will turn into fruit).

The tree will run its pollination probabilities based on the skep with the highest workerbee counts. But it will change its purity based on a random purity derived from all skeps in range. Best to only leave your highest pure and highest workerbee skep in range of a fruit tree once it blossoms.

then why do I spam 20+ skeps :( Good to know, even if they are all roughly the same purity.
