Use lift on the tree you have chopped. Once you have it over your head, right click in on the sawbuck and your character should start moving towards the sawbuck placing it on there. Once it is placed you will have the option to cut boards when you right click on it.

What kind of log are you using? Old logs found in the forest will not work. You must chop down a tree and use the log that falls on the sawbuck.

Lift is not an option on the log. It's the Lift action from the Action menu that you use to pick up everything like lime boulders and wooden boxes. Use Lift to pick the log up and then right click on the sawbuck to put the log on it.

Just go into your adventure menu click on lift. When you click on the button lift your cursor should change and than you left click on the log. Once that happens your character should move towards the log and you will lift in over your head. The log will then be on your head and you should right click on the saw buck so your character will move towards the sawbuck and put it on there. Then you can cut boards by right clicking on the sawbuck with the log on it.

Don't worry about it. You'd be amazed how many little things like that we didn't understand when we started. :D
