It's true OP didn't ask any questions, but I'll give a little advice anyway:

There are little buttons in the lower left of the game screen. They should be on but be sure they are on when you play. They make claims appear red so you know where they are. It sounds like the first time you KOed, you walked onto a claim somehow. Don't do that. Don't turn on Criminal Acts unless you're ready for great danger. Braziers will shoot at you if they see you and that seems to be what happened to you.

Second, you were KOed a second time by a Cougar. It's a wild animal that is very difficult to see. I recommend playing with the sound on because they make lot of growling noises.

You were also attacked by a Gnome, I think. When you pick up one of those logs, shake it before you split it. It if talks, there's a gnome in it. Don't open it then or the Gnome will drop all your inventory on the ground.

There was also a problem with bats in town. John and Marp are fixing it, but I don't know what they are doing. You aren't the only one that got KOed, if it makes you feel better.

Thats the game as intended.

Be happy that you only be KOed not killed.
And your loose is not really big.
Some hundred silver you can get back in no time.
Just go on a Foraging and search Indian Feathers and Arrow Heads and craft a savage charm, then sell it on a NPC Stall.

This fist steps and looses are neccessary that you see that this game is not nice. It is a really good game, but it is not cute.
And you will learn if the first bad people comes to your little claim and steal all your values that are many not nice people out there.

You can be a carebear in this game and it is not bad if you be one because a game needs not only fighters and bad asses.
But if you need a safe place where your items are safe you should choose wisely with wich people you will live.
