Postby killman86 » Sat Aug 01, 2015 10:47 am

Hello everyone!
I wish someone could explain to me how the "darkness", where exactly it is located?

It is a matter of distance of the city? how far? to which side starts the distance score?

Thanks for listening

Darkness is far away from providence. Darkness will drain your humours when you enter it, unless you are a witch. For a start it will be a small drain, but the farther you go into the darkness the stronger the drain will be.
In the darkness you will find specific monsters unique for the darkness, like; Wishpoosh, Argopelters, Darkenbear, Furfur, Hydrukey. They are all much stronger then the normal monsters.
As a non-witch you will also find lumberlords if you go out chopping woods there. Making it very hard too settle if you are a non-witch.

It is not recommended to travel to far into the darkness if your humours are low. And it is not recommended to live there unless you are a witch. It is of course possible. Many non-witches build churches in the darkness, a building that prevents the darkness from draining your humours. Making the area it influences "light" taking away the darkness.

hello, thanks for the reply.

A very recurrent my doubts would be at what point this map would already considered "darkness" and these points on "yellow" is not much distance of the city, since the "reds" are far away.

I do not quite understand the system ...

The colors on the map have nothing to do with what is in darkness and what isn't. It's just an old, worn map. All the New World is darkness, but the city of Providence and its Church creates a light of Civilization which extends in a circle in all directions and starts to slowly fade away as you get too far from it. The first sign you will get that you are leaving the light is rats.

This page should help you explain the basics of Darkness and what lurks there. The drain gets stronger the more you travel inside but when you're a witch, it's reversed. That's why they live in the darkness. I wouldn't recommend going there unless you're a witch or have strong biles to sustain both the drain and the creatures capable of perma-killing you.

When you see rats and your biles drain very, very slowly by 0.01 point or so, you're in Twilight. That means you're close to Darkness. Note that Quetzalcoatls spawn in Twilight's badlands and give you some insanity if you see them. Rats, if they manage to bite you, will give you diseases aswell.

Though with the help of building a church that will lighten a big portion of area around it, you can still settle down in Darkness.
