my sled won't work

well, to be honest, my arms don't work, as it seems no matter what I try, I can't pull my first sled and can't pick it up either.
Obviously I'm very very very new to gaming, but a little help here would be useful thanks

I've tried coming at it from all angles, and clicking "pull" but nothing happens,

Something is telling me you are still in the tutorial, leave it if you are and make a new sled, that one will work.

I am in the tutorial lol
will try making another, although, I'm running out of things to eat having climbed mountains and such like,
Plus, I picked some mushrooms up earlier and they just didn't appear in my inventory.
Is this common in the tutorial?

Yes, you shouldn't stay in the tutorial too long because nothing regenerates there. Finish and go out into the real world where there will always be something to forage.
