Silver disappeared?

I've been walking around with 600 silver in my snakeskin purse, and I looked at it today and it only had 100 silver in it. 500 silver just vanished.
Does silver disappear when you are KO'd? Because I was KO'd hunting a Deer earlier, and I can't think of any other explanation. I haven't been in contact with any players who could steal it from me or anything like that.

It could of been stolen while you were offline from your leanto.

How does that work? Do they leave a scent?

Ah yes, I see the scent. I was stolen from via my leanto. Thanks for clearing that up!
