Few Questions

Postby VegetaVarnay » Sun Jul 12, 2015 4:22 pm

Hello all,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my newbie questions.

1. I've built so far 24 fields which I all have producing cotton. I've just been selling the cloth to the vendor for money not worrying about purity. Is there a better way for me to make money?
2. What's the best way to fill up your compost bins? From the wiki you're supposed to be able to use your leftover seeds and I'm sure you know I'd have a ton with 24 fields but that doesn't work. Any pro tips on something I can produce that doesn't really too much effort to fill the bins up?
3, Since I can't use the left over seeds for the compost bins or just use them for the Turkey Coops, what do I do with the them? I kinda feel like it's a waste to just throw them away.
4. My humors are around 27 each and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to eat to raise them? Should I focus a little on growing Cabbage and Cereal to make stuff or something else?
5. What do you think is a good farm size? I've been considering growing to around 40 tilled fields most producing cotton but I'm all ears for any pro tips. If what I'm doing is wrong please tell me so I can adjust.
6. Lastly what would you suggest is a good base size for a single player. I feel like with all my fields a 40x40 is just too small, I'm focusing on making money through farming right now but open to mining, herding etc...

Again thanks to anyone that helps! It is truly appreciated!!!

1. The best way to make money in Salem is getting yourself a stall and selling the things people need.(this is debatable)
2. I use the product form butchered animals to fill up my compost bins.
3. Save your cotton seeds to press them for oil for oiled boards.
4.Try making a bunch of different foods and see what works best for you in regards to time invested VS biles gained. Look into making a feasting set.
5. I personally run 64 fields and I find that sometimes that isn't enough.
6. A good base size for a single player is one you can afford the time to make proper defenses for and one you can afford to pay the upkeep on.

Playing alone is a very challenging task, but not an impossible one.

I found Garlic rabbit very useful to raise humors. It mainly increases Blue but if you eat another color first you can raise something else.

the bile garlic rabbit raises is based on what cut you use for the recipe. Beaver for black, deer for yellow, bear/ snake for red, and cougar/rabbit for blue.

2. I use plucked turkeys to fill my composts, keep producing more than I use, and they fill quite a lot at a time (plucked give more compost points than unplucked turkeys). @_@ Before that I was mostly using plants like Honeysuckle kudzu from foraging for rare inspirationals in the nearby Shrub biome. x3

4. If you can grow oatmeal (first tier cereal) then you can make the rather simple recipe of Roasted Pine Nut Stuffing if you got the Baking skill; not just good for making stuffed Turkey's, but it also got decent gluttony values itself from 30-34 overall. And is a recipe that contributes to reducing insanity since it uses a baking table. =D The baking table is probably the hardest investment here. There's probably other methods too though; I know a lot of people on your level swear to Sea Loaf, but that's definitively a lot more work than what Roasted Pine Nut Stuffing is.

Another thing, I've heard "feasting set" or "Farming set" but I don't know what that means? Could you be so kind as to explain that thanks!

feasting set for gluttony, and farming set is affluence, because affluence is needed to get more seeds from tobacco field

List of categories. The feasting is based on appropriately, feasting. If you have a total score of a hundred or more, when you reach 10 gobble points, you receive 2 or more humors instead of one, dependent on your feasting.

Farming would I imagine, be productivity (generally benefits many work related, non combat activities) weaving (beneficial to processing raw cotton into cloth, you use less dependent on your score) and probably affluence, for Tobacco, for which you need a certain amount to get a usable amount of seeds to actually replant again.
