About Servers

Hi all, I am pretty new to this game, and when I started I decided to play on Popham, because it sounded like eve online 0.0 space, anyway.....

I later learned that Popham was a test server.... and i was wondering if that meant that my character will be lost when the test server goes down?

My nest question is that I can port to providence from my homestead leanto, does this mean that the two servers are linked? and I can trade and interact with everyone on both servers?
(in essence is this like two nodes in 1 world?)

Popham isn't a test server but the first run of our expedition concept. Basically the server will last until a witch is able to end it. When the server ends you will be able to inherit up to 100% of your character's stats with the proper preparation. You can not transfer a character from popham to providence except by way of inheritance. The tooltip to teleport to "Providence" is a bit misleading as it actually takes you to the main hub town in Popham.

This is actually something i've been lazy to properly hunt down, but does the inheritance from popham to providence come ye ole' end of the server count only your trips to the family statue or is it a case of [Last will & Testament > Gravekeeper estate planned] + family statue bonus?

Thank you CottonMather, so assuming witch hunts go well, then the server may run indefinitely? (just theory crafting)
Also, Lachlaan's question i would also hope to know, if it is not disclosing TOO much information.

Theoretically, the server could go forever. However, you don't get to take your animals back to Providence until it ends. IMO, there will eventually be a few large groups who are ready for the end while others aren't quite there, having been slower to develop their flocks, and some sort of battling over the statues with the larger groups working on getting their witches to the statues and others trying to prevent them will ensue. If it goes on too long, it's going to be more and more a fight for who's witch gets to end the server and claim the credit rather than whether or not the server is actually going to end.

Sorry for the slight de-rail, but have you put any further consideration into the suitcase idea?

It's John who will decide something like that. He's currently white water rafting down the Colorado river so we'll see when he gets back. There's also the technical problem of servers not wanting to accept transfers of items from one to the other. I don't know how they fixed it for animals, but I'm guessing it's something special in the animal code and so the ability to move other items is still something that is problematic.
