type :lo not into the chat, or just close the client. The cougar will de-aggro or just despawn when the character is not logged into for long enough. Also helps to not have any other players nearby seeing that animal.

False. Character will be online, because it is in combat. And cougar will be there, because it cannot despawn while map chunks are loaded. And map chunks will remain loaded because there is a character online.

If you can't kill cougar, the only way to logout and despawn that cougar is breaking combat properly. Walk away from cougar so he can't see you. Or, if your fenced area is too small, enter a house for a couple of minutes. Or, if you don't have house, let couguar knock you out as far away from your fence as you can and then do logout.

That isnt true. This is how we used to lose aggro from pelters before that was fixed.

You can, indeed, lose agro from that Cougar just by force logging out. If your character is linkdead for awhile, the tile will deload, taking the cougar with it. If nothing else it holding you online, such as lack of a homestead, you will also log out completely. Either way, you'll be free if you just leave for an hour or so, usually less.

Yup. The force log trick worked. When i logged back in the cougar was gone and i was free to grab my teddy and log properly. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
