Nubs the dog is always hidden behind a tree and I have no way of feeding him.... I have quit and restarted 4 times now.... any ideas??

You have to rotate your camera. Do so by holding down your mouse wheel and look around or go to options and change camera modes.

Hold middle mouse button and move the mouse to rotate the camera.
