If you turn on sound you will hear it as well.(The noise always makes me shudder)

It is the mine collopsing.

Either build a support beam directly under it to stop it or run and stay at least 10 tiles away and wait for it to all cave in.

What does it sound like?

Well I was hoping it was the entrance to the second level forming haha! no such luck!

You have to find black walls for that
But even then, if you mine like that you shouldn't have cave-ins, it was bad luck
