There are many ways one can die... darkness monsters, disease, insanity, but they are due to the players negligency lol.
For player killing you need rights of the englishmen to attack other players and once knocked out you need the story of cain & abel to use the murder move. This is the most expensive skill in the game and many players just buy memento mori from the store. Since this implies real life investment and the person can lose his character due to murder scents and rangers this is considered balanced.

If you are a ranger you can kill the criminals with the skill Revenge. Works the same as cain and abel but you can only murder people if you have the crime scents they left. Also you can build a trial by combat for this purpose, this building allows you to summon the criminal pretty far from his leanto and blocks the criminal from changing leantos. Revenge also leaves scents, so you should have a revenge alt as well.

Cain and Abel isn't the most expensive skill, other then that he's pretty spot on there, are some lesser known ways to murder people, also if you plan on hauling a corpse be careful of crossing water, as it usually bugs the corpse and turns it to a skeleton.

Oh you are right, i forgot about lucky. Still, is cloak and dagger the most difficult proficiency to raise?
