I built a base and laid a settle stone thingy, but now when I go to explore no matter what damn way I go a cougar attacks and KO's me as soon as I get anywhere away from my base I get KO this is such crap

Not sure what you're talking about. Cougars don't aggro from further away than any other animal, which is not very far away.

my map shows all the creatures around me and a cougar just appearing behind me then appearing on the map so ? how does it appear out of nowhere.

Because that's what cougars do. They're very hard to spot until they are aggroing someone.
That said, both custom clients show cougars even in their invisible form. Not entirely sure whether the default does that as well.

Either way, it's not like cougars are particularly common.

every time ive seen a couger they didt look aggro and they was transparrent there easyer to see when there in the roucky mountion biomes compared to the green forest in defult

Maybe you're not playing on a custom client, try latikai or enders and modify the radar, that way you can see them before they see you

Your most likley in a biome that they spawn more commonly in, either move or deal with the elevated chance that one will spawn near you. Cougars in general are about as rare as bears, you probably just got unlucky.

Your best option if one is outside your door, just log out for an hour or so, it should despawn and you can continue as normal.

Please remember, that this is Salem.. the game is rigged against the player in every way without making it impossible to progress.
