how do I catch butterflies?

I got my bugcatcher nets but I don´t know how to use it, I equiped it and clicked on the butterflies but nothing happens

Do you have Lepidoptology? It's unlocked with Bug Hunting and you must have the skill to actually use a net.

Yes, I have it. Is there a special button to use the net? Do I equip it and then left click on net and right click on butterfly? How does it work?

Nope, with net in hand just R click a butterfly and your guy/gal will give chase and catch it. You can potentially be interrupted by anything with a hitbox inbetween you and the butterfly though.
