so I made clay pots I put them on the fire with water in them, but it will not let me put mushrooms in the clay pot to boil the mushroom

Not all mushrooms can be/need to be boiled.

Only Toadstools, Witch's Hat, Yellow Morel, and Spooky Redcap can and need to be boiled. Lavender Blewit, Sugar Caps, and Lobster Mushrooms aren't poisonous and can be consumed raw.
