I feel like there is so much about the game that i should know but dont. I mean i know the mechanics but for instance. i used to play over a year ago. i got killed on my plot of land by some guy wearing an indian headdress. i was told because i was on their land? and that i should make a peace treaty wit them and they would protect me and let me live where i lived..how was i to know i was on their land? and i have read or heard nothing about clans or treaties or anything like that. the other night i came across a big town or settlement called York. I was told if i settled anywhere around without making a treaty that i would be raided. but i walked all around it and there was no one in there..and it was pretty big. Am i missing something or are people just bsing me?

You're remembering the tribe, who roleplayed that they owned all the land because they were natives. The rules are pretty much what the players say they are and can enforce. This is a sandbox.

The town called York probably will raid you if you settle too near them. There's no game mechanic that says they own the land around their town that they haven't claimed, but they own it if they can keep people off it. I suggest going elsewhere, or trying to make a protection deal with them like they seem to want, or maybe joining them or another town.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i understand there is no game mechanic. Just seems to be a lot of stuff i dont know. i am very familiar with the sandbox and what peeps can do and how it is enforced by what players can and cant do. I was just wondering what else i dont know lol. also. what is that village/town or fort that is west of providence on the new map they put out. is that a player town or a game town? looks like it has some smelters or something.

Everything on the map is a dev added town or landmark. You can be ported to them if you pay silver to the NPC. Start at the circle of wagons in Providence. Not all the landmarks on the map are in yet.

There are two wikis you can go to to catch up on things: http://www.thesalemwiki.com/wiki/index. ... =Main_Page and http://salemwiki.info/index.php/Main_Page.
