Any way to rotate items after you pick them up to be placed

I picked up some things on my homestaed to tidy thing up is there any way to have them snap back into place when I set them down? They keep getting put down crooked or wrong way. Thanks..

Click on the item as it is above your head. You will get a ghost image of the item on the ground. You can then hold shift and/or ctrl to align the item and place it how you want.
